PERFORMANCE DRIVING SCHOOLÂ
The Performance Driving School (PDS) is a fun and exciting way for drivers from all backgrounds to experience the thrill of driving at high speeds, legally, in a safe and controlled environment. PDS is our brand of HPDE (High Performance Driver Education) designed to guide those new to track days from their first wheels on track experience to a Solo rating, and provide more expereinced drivers with plenty of track time to continue honing their skills. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or you’ve never been on a race track before, PDS offers instruction, track time, and the opportunity to build skills and knowledge. And of course, have fun while doing so!
Â
Skills development, etiquette and safety are stressed from the beginning of the weekend, starting with daily drivers’ meetings and in classroom instruction for those attending for the first time. Our top priority is your safety, followed by fun, camaraderie, and driving the perfect lap!

This is as much a social event as driver development, with informal gatherings during load in on Friday nights, plenty of paddock chatter between drivers during the day and a PDS-hosted get together on Saturday evening after cold track where the drinks and grills come out.

NEW DRIVERS WANTED
Welcome to your next adrenaline fix! We all started just like you - into cars, loving racing, and looking for ways to experience the excitement of going wheel-to-wheel in real life. While there are many ways to get on track these days, we feel the safest (and cheapest) way to get started is through HPDE - High Performance Driver Education. Starting out in HPDE is easy - show up with a Snell SA-rated helmet and a car (just about any road worthy car will do to get started). We will pair you with an instructor who will guide you through the track, driver technique etc. in a safe, controlled environment. Yes there will be other cars on track! Students are grouped according to their ability and experience, with "Novice Group" students being the least experienced. As your skill grows you can move up to faster Run Groups (with or without an instructor in the right seat). Each group has its own track sessions and there are multiple track sessions per group, per day. This is also a great way to level up to a full racing license (many instructors and Advanced Group drivers also race).
Our HPDE program is called Performance Driving School (PDS) and started out years ago as the resident HPDE program at Texas World Speedway. We combine classroom instruction with on-track sessions with an instructor on board for every Novice and limit passing zones so you can focus on learning the line, car control etc. When you are ready to promote out of the Novice Group, which could take one or more weekends, another instructor will do a ride-along evaluation and certify you for the next group. You will also pick up a lot of tips from dozens of more experienced drivers in the paddock, whether its tire pressures, suspension set up or how to interpret telemetry data.

What To Bring to PDS

Your car with a Technical inspection form completed and signed, and emptied of all loose objects.
Any tools, fluids, or tires that may be needed.
A helmet with a Snell rating of SA 2015 rating or later with no damage to the outer shell
Closed toe shoes for driving, long pants, all clothing should be cotton or natural material
It is highly suggested that you also bring the following for your comfort: a chair, a cooler with water for drinking, sunscreen, and snacks.

Spectators
Friends and family are always welcome at any TMA event (it IS a club after all). Non-participants must sign a waiver at the front gate and are limited to the paddock, concession stand, and infield. No spectators are allowed beyond the safety fences/barriers (pit road etc).

Parade Laps
During lunch, we may offer parade laps for any who are interested. Parade laps allow everyone the opportunity to drive the road course configuration being used that weekend in their own car. They are driven at normal street speeds with seat belts on, but no helmets are required. An advanced driver or instructor leads the group single-file around the course for five laps and then leads them into the paddock. No passing or racing is allowed during parade laps
